Federal Council approves e-voting in Thurgau 20.06.2018

During its meeting on 20 June 2018, the Federal Council approved the use of e-voting in the Canton of Thurgau for a two-year period. In August 2017, Thurgau decided to introduce Swiss Post’s system following a public tender. Swiss citizens from Thurgau who are resident abroad will be able to vote electronically for the first time in the federal vote on 23 September 2018. The canton is planning to run pilot projects with individual municipalities in a second step in order to make it possible to vote electronically within Switzerland as well.
